Student Assistants Program Sponsors The Student Assistants Program provides funds for hiring student employees, who maintain the arboretum. We receive no funds from the State of California for this purpose. Typically, a student employee is responsible for all the maintenance in an entire garden and the group works together, as needed, on large projects. A manager, also paid by Student Assistants Program funds, oversees the arboretum under the guidance of the Arboretum Director.
